HIV/AIDS - The Good Samaritan

The Good SamaritanBased on the parable of the Good Samaritan in which the HIV/AIDS virus is depicted as the robbers who attacked the man on the road to Jericho, the Good Samaritan programme brings a Christian message of hope for the suffering, compassion towards the ill and the dying, abstinence before marriage and faithfulness to a lifelong partner to help combat the HIV/AIDS virus. Pictured is Armelle Mekui, the newly appointed coordinator of the HIV/AIDS project in Gabon, with two of her helpers.

The programme is being received by governments, churches and Christian agencies in Africa with a degree of enthusiasm far beyond the original expectations of the project initiators. There is a great deal of interest in African countries to expand the programme and, at this time, a further ten Bible Societies are waiting to implement the programme. The only limitation is the lack of funding!
